The employee didn’t identify himself as an MTA worker until after he was arrested, sources said. An MTA spokesperson told PIX11 News the employee was suspended pending further investigation.

The trio of workers then removed the grate, and MTA employee Latasha Goodall ceremoniously picked up the ring, smiling and proudly showing it to the crowd that formed and were taking pictures.

The MTA is taking steps to secure its subways — installing alarms and checking IDs — as teams of teen vandals continue to gain access to parked trains.
