I ended up using 2 custom footprints not in the KiCAD library so I included the .kicad_mod library files here. They can be imported into the footprint editer and saved in a local library if needed.

I would suggest to use split planes (RTN, POWER GND) in TOP (L1) and BOTTOM (L4) layers like the 2-layer example in the datasheet. Use RTN plane for layer L2 and GND plane for layer L3.
