The lectures of Edward Pusey, Daniel the Prophet (1891), are superb. The same may be said of the technical studies of Robert Dick Wilson, Studies in the Book of Daniel (Vol. I, 1917, Vol. II, 1938).
He first pointed out in Daniel 7, the prophet wrote, around 550 B.C., of four empires. He recounted seeing a vision of four beasts, one being like a lion with eagle's wings. Another was like a bear.
