    Self-treatment: Self- care steps that may be helpful in some less- serious cases:
    • Keep taking small sips of water frequently to prevent dehydration
    • Have foods containing ginger (tea, biscuits)
    • Sip fruit juices, sports drinks, or flat soda pop
    • Have small frequent, bland meals when hungry
    See a doctor if you notice:
    • Vomiting for more than a day or two
    • You are unable to keep down any fluids because of repeated vomiting
    • The vomit is green (this could be a fluid called bile, which suggests you may have a blockage in your bowel)

    See a doctor immediately if you notice:
    • Signs of severe dehydration, such as confusion, a rapid heartbeat, sunken eyes and passing little or no urine are seen
    • Sudden, severe abdominal (tummy) pain
    • Chest pain
    • Blood in the vomit or what looks like coffee granules
    • Stiff neck and high temperature (fever)
    • Sudden, severe headache
    • Possibility of having swallowed something poisonous
