Revatio and Viagra are fundamentally the same drug, yet their intended uses, dosing, and administration differ significantly. Viagra remains the go-to medication for erectile dysfunction, while Revatio serves a crucial role in managing pulmonary arterial hypertension.

Revatio and Viagra contain the same active ingredient called sildenafil. However, Revatio is used for pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), whereas Viagra is used for erectile dysfunction (ED). Because of their different uses, the brand-name medications differ in their dosages, including frequency of use, strengths, and administration forms.

Revatio is a smaller dose than Viagra at 20mg or less, but is taken up to three times daily, whereas Viagra is only to be taken when needed. In addition, Revatio can be taken as an oral tablet, a liquid, or an injection while Viagra is strictly available in pill form.

Both Viagra and sildenafil (Revatio) contain the same active ingredient: sildenafil. However, Viagra is FDA-approved to treat erectile dysfunction, whereas sildenafil (Revatio) is FDA-approved to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). The strengths and dosages used to treat each condition are different.
