  1. A dehumidifier is an air conditioning device which reduces and maintains the level of humidity in the air. This is done usually for health or thermal comfort reasons, or to eliminate musty odor and to prevent the growth of mildew by extracting water from the air. It can be used for household, commercial, or industrial applications.

Air conditioners work by cooling and removing moisture from the air. The air conditioner pulls air from your home and passes it over a cooling coil. This cools the air, and moisture condenses onto coils. Cool air doesn’t hold as much moisture as warm air. The water droplets then drip into a condensate pan out out of a drain tube.

The difference between an air conditioner and a dehumidifier is where the warm air and condensation that the unit is generating are dispelled. Air conditioners dispel the heat and moisture outside of the house and a dehumidifier dispels the heat and moisture inside of the house.
