    Naphazoline is a decongestant used to relieve redness, puffiness, and itchy/watering eyes due to colds, allergies, or eye irritations (smog, swimming, or wearing contact lenses).

    Side effects

    If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly

    • Stinging
    • Redness
    • Widened pupils
    • Blurred vision

    Tell your doctor right away if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur

    • Dizziness
    • Nausea
    • Sweating
    • Drowsiness
    • Weakness
    • Nervousness
    • Worsening redness/itching/swelling in or around the eyes

    Tell your doctor right away if any of these rare but very serious side effects occur

    • Eye pain
    • Other vision problems
    • Headache
    • Decrease in body temperature
    • Irregular heartbeat

    A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, seek immediate medical attention if you notice any of the following symptoms of a serious allergic reaction

    • Rash
    • Itching/swelling
    • Severe dizziness
    • Trouble breathing

    Other things to note

    • If your doctor has directed you to use this medication, remember that he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.

    • Wash hands before and after using
    • Do not touch tip of open eye drop bottle
    • May wear contact lenses 10 minutes after using.
    • Wait 5 min. before other eye medications.
    • May make you drowsy or dizzy. Drive with caution
    • May blur vision. Use caution when driving.
    • Review all drugs you are taking with your doctor
    • Keep away from children

    Warnings

    • For the eye.
    • Remove soft contact lenses before using this medicine. May reinsert 10 minutes after using.
    • If you are using other eye medications, wait at least 5 minutes before applying them unless directed otherwise.

    Interactions

    Before taking this medication, tell your doctor if you've had:

    • Heart problems (e.g., high blood pressure)
    • Glaucoma
    • Diabetes
    • Eye infection/injury
    • Overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism)

    Products that may interact with this drug include:

    • Cyclobenzaprine
    • Guanethidine
    • MAO inhibitors (linezolid, methylene blue, moclobemide, phenelzine procarbazine, rasagiline, safinamide, selegiline, isocarboxazid, tranylcypromine)
    • Maprotiline
    • Tricyclic antidepressants (e.g., amitriptyline)
